Last week a problem ran over my Lotus Notes client installation.
I've been using my client without any problems for the last 6 months. During on the 1st April my client did not want to start anymore.
I'm using Notes Client 8.5.2 on a Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Linux OS.
If I just clicked the icon it just did not do anything. No Splash Screen, nothing. If I tried to start from a command prompt (with my local user, not root) using this line /opt/ibm/lotus/notes/notes, after clicking Enter the prompt returned again without any output. It just did not want to start.
After hours of tries I did a full Ubuntu reinstall and it worked.
Any ideas what could have caused this ? I guess with be something to the Lotus' Java VM ? Or ? How can I check this configuration if it will happen again ?
It seems that right after I did start /opt/ibm/lotus/notes/notes the next step trying to start ../framework/rcp/eclipse/plugins/.. did not engage. Any ideas why ?
Thank you very much in advance!
Alex
